How we Teach Nutritional Literacy

Our curriculum introduces nutrition in clear, age-appropriate terms for K–8 students. In virtual and in-person lessons, students learn how food supports daily life and practice making informed choices without treating eating as a test.

Food Groups

Students look at the variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, and proteins and learn how different foods can fit into a meal.

Essential Nutrients

Students learn how vitamins and minerals support growth, energy, and concentration.

Balanced Meals

Students practice putting together a balanced plate that can provide steady energy.

Reading Labels

Students learn how to read nutrition facts and other information on food packaging so they can make informed choices.
